萬芳的感受

雖然，我給了我的新運動褲給我的好朋友，被媽媽責備了。但是，我仍然認為被媽媽責備還是給我的好朋友被她的媽媽責備還好。 媽媽罵了我一頓，她讓我站在門口站了一個鐘頭。當然我感到很不開心，覺得這個決定不好。不過，我心裡感到這個決定是值得的，因為如果是我的朋友的話，她也要站在門口站，可是要站兩個鐘頭！她會比我辛苦兩倍。

小時後美麗的回憶

我小時候和爸爸媽媽一起去旅行，我們到了澳洲，Great Barrier Reef。這個是一個世界著名的地方. 那邊，天氣不太冷，不太熱。那時，我只有兩歲，沒有甚麼感受和不是那麼懂事。

有一天早上，我爸爸帶我到海邊裏游泳。他先進入海水裏，試試水溫。之後，他就抱著我一起進去。我還沒進入水裏，我已經感到非常冷，腳和手在發抖，嘴巴也變紫色了！ 媽媽轉頭看看，我把她嚇壞了！原來水溫是很冷像冰水一樣。爸爸不覺得水冷還繼續游，他說：不用怕。。。爸爸讓媽媽感到很緊張。當時，我還小，沒有理天氣和當時的情況。我沒有哭，只在那裡發抖。這次經驗真是一個新嘗試。從此以後，我對海水的印象是很害怕的！但現在長大了，不會怕水了。

回想起來，我覺的爸爸只是一番好意，他只希望我可以感受到在海裏游泳。而媽媽一定在那時後拍照，看看我驚怕的表情，實在很好笑的！

Process of Making A Remote Controlled Car

During these few weeks, we had to work in groups to learn how to build a remote controlled car as part of our ICT unit.

In this unit I have learnt how to co-operate with each other nicely, communicate efficiently through using Google Docs, learning the correct terms for different parts of the car and how to build it. I found this unit quite interesting because I had never tried building a remote controlled car before and never thought that it was challenging!

We had to follow the manual and fit all the parts in correctly, find the correct screws and screw them in. Towards the end of building our car, we had to charge the battery, fix steering problems if necessary. In our case, our car didn't co-ordinate properly and wouldn't go forward. The fun part was we got to spray paint the car with different colours. Although at times, there were mistakes and people got frustrated about the mistakes, the outcome was still very impressive. As a group, we were really proud of our work.

I learnt that, I am not very keen on building cars and figuring out the mistakes. Next time, I should try to be more proactive.

Our Comic: The Copycats

During this unit in ICT, we are using this program called 'Comic Life' to make our very own comics. We were in pairs and within a limited of time. We had to finish the comic.
Kate and I have been working on this comic 'The Copycats'! We hope you enjoy it.

The Internet (Lecture)

In our IL (Independent Learning) lesson today we were talking about the internet. We had a lecture about it and it was led by Dr. Parker. Here are some notes I took:

What are the functions?

The three Concepts:

- Packet switching
- Network of networks
- TCP/IP

Process:

1. A networks connects lots of computers.
2. Internet  connects all of those computers together.
3. If you want to send something, the network finds the computer and finds the IP address. The things  being sent will be put in little packets and are sent out one at a time.
4. The packets contains any route to arrive to their destination but will choose the fasts one.
5. Once arrived, it will be put in order.

The Simpsons

We are now learning a new unit on comics for our media/ICT lesson. We were asked to find a comic and post it onto our blogs. I chose The Simpsons because I enjoy reading it, you can read it anytime and it is funny! They also make movies, books, comics and videos.


The Simpsons is a popular comic sold around the world. It is suitable for all ages. They are funny, colourfull and interesting to read! The Simpsons was created by Matt Greoning. The Simpsons family consists of  Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. They have great adventures together and funny experiences!

Instructions to subscribe to a podcast

If you want to listen to a podcast you can follow these steps below:

1. Choose an internet browser and open it (E.g Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox...)
2. Type in Google "Podcast"
3. Choose a website
4. On the website click on a podcast
5. Copy the RSS link
6. Open another tab and search on Google "Google Reader"
7. Click on the link that leads you to Google Reader
8. To log in you have to have a Google account
9. On the top left there is a bar, it says "Add a subscription"
10.  Paste the RSS link you copied
11. There will be a bunch of podcasts listed

I hope you find these instructions helpful. Searching on "Google reader" is a useful web because you can get all the newest podcasts together in one site. So, you won't need to go on so many sites to find all of those podcasts.

Project Summary

During this "Blogging" project, I learnt that not everything on the internet is safe. Like downloading, sharing your personal information with strangers, talking to people on the internet...e.t.c.

This was suppose to be a challenging project. I found it quite difficult doing some of the things. I think the most challenging part was to embed stuff, such as: Google docs, Library Thing, Wordle and Delicious, for all of those, I needed help from my friends. Some of it I found it fairly easy like, embedding Youtube, adjusting the width for the posts, organizing my blog and adding different gadgets!

How I learnt?
I learnt by figuring out how to embed something. I think this is going to be the best way to learn because when you figure things out yourself you will remember it better!

Next time, I will try not to ask for that much help and try to figure it out myself.

As this is my first project, I really liked it, it was a good experience!

After this project, I learned that being challenged isn't that bad, it's actually quite fun because you get to play around with stuff and explore the internet!

I hope my overall score will be satisfying!

Helpful Tips:
1. Every word you type is essential.
2. When searching, case is not important.
3. Every word you put in brackets will be used
    E.g, A search for [ south china ] is the same as a search for [ South China ].
4. Punctuation is also ignored, including @#$%^&*()=+[]\|!~ and other special characters.
5. You must always keep your words simple

Activities I do

In my spare time I do many activities. Swimming, Ice-Skating, Drawing and Piano. I also take extra lessons after school. I take Maths lessons and Chinese. They are there to help me improve my learning! Sometimes it can be very boring but sometimes it can be fun! Swimming is my strength but not my favourite, my parents say that it is good for me and it makes me grow taller! I participated in a number of competitions, sometimes I win and sometimes I lose. To me, it doesn't really matter if you win or lose as long as you had fun and you tried your best! Ice-skating is my favourite because it is very graceful and the tricks looks amazing! When I am bored at home I draw and sketch. I use to learn drawing, for drawing you need to have lots of patience. As I grow up I have more homework so I don't have much time to learn drawing, but I still enjoy it! In piano I am grade 6. I kind of like piano, depending on the piece I play. The teacher usually choses the piece I play, except for an examination. I like the songs in a fair speed, I don't like slow songs because the rhythm sounds boring. In a speedy song there is a good rhythm to it and it makes you want to dance! I enjoy doing all of them!

Improper Way of Using the Internet

The internet can be quite useful but in another way it can be quite dangerous! The internet is connected to the world! So you must be careful what you put to share with other people. You can't share your personal information. For example: your age, school, last name, mobile or other information. In case of other evil people, will steal your information and do something bad to you! They can meet you and pretend to be your friend (Facebook) and once you get to see them they will ask you for money and black mail you! Also if you buy something expensive from the internet and give your credit card number. The website you use might not be safe, they can take your credit card and steal all of your money! Not all of the websites are safe you should not trust the internet! There are also viruses on the internet so beware of what you click! Don't download something that is illegal or something you're not sure about. You should always ask if you are not sure!

In a good way, you can use the internet for education like doing some research. The internet provides a wide range of sources for you to use but again, not all the information is true! Like, Wikipedia, everyone can edit and change information so you can't trust the information on wikipedia.

Here are some examples of an improper way of using the internet:
1. When using a social website (Facebook, Blogger) do not share all your personal information because other people people might steal your information.
2. On Facebook, don't add people or chat with strangers you don't know, they might invite you to come out and then trap you!
3. Don't download everything you like as that may cause virus.

The internet is not that bad but only if you be careful of what you do! Don't download things or catch virus. You should ALWAYS think before you act!
